What do you think about large age differences between significant others?

I just answered this Featured Question, you can answer it too!

I'm sure it's not ethically wrong. I know that it hasn't been uncommon in history and throughout the world for older men to marry very young women. You know, it would be really interesting to know how that worked. I mean, did they actually get along really nicely? or was it more of a societal/economic thing where the most important thing was good family name, producing an heir or children to take care of you in old age, economic security, what not? I'm not opposed to it when other people choose to follow that route. I've seen couples that really get along well with a fairly large age difference. I have to say that I prefer being close in age. My parents are and most relatives. Danielle seems to have chosen this too. I think I'm more okay with the man being older than not. Still, they say that women live longer so wouldn't it be smarter to have the man younger than you?

In other news, it's still winter and things keep on getting cancelled which I kind of like because it gives me a break during the busiest time of my year. Hence a little xanga writing happening. =0)

I'd like to thank Britney and Stefanie for inspiring me to get back on this thing. I've really enjoyed reading they're posts and it made me want to come back. =0)
And I love the idea of answering a featured question. It makes you think, you get to air your opinion. kind of fun. =))

It's the end of October

and I've been looking forward to ending this month. =0) I have this idea that November is going to be a good one. Today I showed up for work only to find that none of the lessons would actually be happening for one reason or other. Therefore, I have a day off! I've been trying to figure out how to best use it. I'd like to get a lot done but I'd also like to do something enjoyable. I tried watching a Barbra Streisand "Belle of 14th Street" dvd I'd gotten from Netflix but found it very lacking. So in the meanwhile, I've been cleaning. =0)

I've been thinking about xanga lately, actually for the past week or so, I've had the urge to start blogging again. When this happens, I start to collect things from daily life and I'll think "Hey, I could write about that." =0)

I think one of the last posts talks about me biking. What's really amazing is that I've kept that up all summer and really enjoyed it. It's hard to believe that I've done that route regularly for months now. Last week, it started to smell like fall and now trees are turning different colors. Sometimes I have little adventures but today was more of a reflective uneventful ride. I like how strong my legs feel. I like that I know what to wear for each different temperature. I like that it's familiar and yet still challenging.

I'm still accompanying and singing with Dogwood Chorale. I've started nibbling at a Master of Arts in Theological Studies at Bethel. I feel like I'm learning a lot these days. =0)

I'm so glad Stef tagged me because I was feeling the urge to xanga but wasn't sure what to write.

1. Grab the book nearest to you, turn to page 18, find line 4 and write what it says.
"Mary has strongholds in her mind. They have been there for"
-- Joyce Meyer's "Battlefield of the Mind" (If this doesn't make you want to read the book, I don't know what will. ha ha)

2. Stretch your left arm out as far as you can. What can you touch?
My luggage, I mean... my purse.

3. What is the last thing you watched on TV?
I'm not sure, I don't really watch tv right now. I think it was "Shaq's Challenge" (not sure that's the complete title)

4. Without looking, guess what time it is.
2:01 pm

5. Now look at the clock. What is the actual time?
1:08 pm (interesting...this is an afternoon off for me and I'm trying to just enjoy myself without worrying too much about time...must be working. =0)

6. With the exception of the computer, what can you hear?
There's an open window to my right and I hear birds chirping, cars passing, and every once in a while I hear the jingle of Spunk's collar from somewhere in the house.

7. When did you last step outside? What were you doing?
When I came home last night from Little Women practice.

8. Before you started this survey, what did you look at?
Facebook, my e-mail, and Johnita's Xanga (same as Stef =0)

9. Did you dream last night?
Yes, it was very involved and kind of weird. Kind of like a Sci-fi movie where all these accomplished people who don't necessarily know each other are brought together by a mutual contact. This guy is sending them on some sort of space venture for discovery purposes and I think that they are involved in it without consultation. They come to the meeting without knowing it's purpose and basically find out that they're heading out even if they don't want to, the way out is locked and systems are counting down. Through a video I guess the man starts telling them about their computerized replacements that will live their lives while their gone. What was interesting is that he had programmed them to become a better version of the people, if that makes sense. One guy's replacement would see how he had been wrong and would make corrections. One girl's replacement would recover better from a big failure in her past that had crippled her. Then something intriguing was the last thing the guy said in his video and at this point, he was the typical big talking head on the screen. He said something like "And I won't be changing at all because I won." What the crap does that mean? It seemed to make sense in the dream... well, anyway, this is not my typical dream, but now I've put an incredibly long answer for this question and should probably move on.

10. When did you last laugh?
I think I've laughed since this but I can't remember so.. last night I watched a youtube thing from one of the Gaither concerts where Mark Lowry was giving Bill a hard time. I always liked Mark Lowry.

11. What is on the walls of the room you are in?
Calendar, hanging file holder, Africa scarf picutre thing, atomic clock, bird pictures, some poster of Africa that I colored (it's massive and it took me a long time)

12. Seen anything weird lately?
I saw a duck with a blue bill at the Monterrey Aquarium in the last week. Weird but very very cool.

13. What do you think of this quiz?
I like it, I like answering questions like this.

14. What is the last film you saw?
Finding Nemo, though I only saw a part of it.

15. If you became a multi-millionaire overnight, what would you buy?
pay off all debt, a really nice house, a grand piano for mom and for me

16. Tell me something about you that I don't know?
I'm considering heading back to Bethel for a Biblical Literature degree.

17. If you could change one thing about the world, what would you do?
I don't know, return it to Paradise status, pre-fallen.

18. Comment to President Bush:
I wouldn't know what to say, maybe.."Thank you for serving the country."

19. Would you ever consider living abroad?
yeah, I'm not sure if i would want to for the entirety of my life, but I wouldn't be opposed to seasons of it.

20. What do you want God to say to you when you get to heaven?
"Hi, Jen. You did well." and then a hug.

21. Name 4 people who must also do this quiz on their blog.
I'd like to tone down this one. Let's take out the "must" part and put in four people I would like to see do this quiz...
Sara Zook, Johnita Beyler, Jeshua Franklin, Melinda Parks

Another one so soon?

Let's see....what can I write about that will completely rock your worlds?...............................ummm................okay, let's try a different tactic. What I have done today? =0) Oh, yes, I'm very proud of myself because the first thing I did today was bike around Diamond Lake (about 8 miles)! It was good. I didn't run into any vicious dogs and i didn't run over any chipmunks, not for their lack of trying (and I can't count how many smooshed chipmunks I passed, it was slightly disturbing but I could see how it would happen when these cute little critters tempt fate so much.) I call that a very successful ride, not to mention the gorgeous weather. There was an entertaining moment when I passed 3 youth, one waved to me and then I hear another say very loudly "No, you cannot steal that woman's bike!" I know that's not particularly clever or even a new joke, but it made me chuckle. =0) Plus, they didn't say "girl" and I think that's a nice change from being taken for a highschooler.
Also, I've managed to accomplish a good deal of my to-do list as of late. It's very satisfying. I feel like a lean mean to-do list crossing off machine.
